Overview

A built-in bench lets you sit upright and immerse to the shoulders. The insulated PVC interior can't rust or corrode, keeps its finish with simple care, and holds 140 to 150 gallons at full capacity.

A synthetic wood exterior with the look of timber, made to resist moisture, UV and everyday wear, with a matching two-step stool for an easy, steady way in and out. It suits a home gym, a covered patio or a spa room.

A custom cover with child-safety locking buckles keeps the water clean and helps hold its temperature between sessions.
Options
Choose a version in the buy box above. Both chillers come from Dynamic Cold Therapy, are made for its tubs, cool and heat, and plug into a standard 120 V outlet.

The barrel, step and locking cover, with no chiller. You fill it with cold water and ice, and change the water every 3 to 5 days. A chiller is the way to hold a steady temperature.

Holds your water anywhere from 37°F to 85°F, with Wi-Fi app control, scheduling, built-in ozone and two-stage filtration. Rated for plunges up to 135 gallons, and a good fit for everyday home use.

The same features with more cooling power, rated for plunges up to 150 gallons. Choose it for frequent plunging, faster cooldowns, or a warm room or climate.
Optional accessories, chosen in the buy box: a 4-pack of replacement 20-micron filters for the chiller, and a pair of 9 ft neoprene hose covers that insulate the water lines and help manage condensation.

Using & care
Near the coast? PVC can't rust or corrode, so Dynamic Cold Therapy recommends this barrel for homes within 50 miles of the coast. Prefer a polished metal finish? See the stainless steel barrel.
Cold water is a strong stressor for the heart and lungs. If you have heart disease, an arrhythmia, high or low blood pressure, circulation problems, diabetes or another medical condition, take medication, or are pregnant, check with your clinician first. Never plunge alone or after alcohol, and get out right away if you feel weak, dizzy or unable to control your hands and limbs. Your core temperature can keep dropping after you get out, so warm up gradually. Children should only use it with close adult supervision.
Research
A 2025 review of 11 studies with more than 3,000 participants found cold-water immersion may lower stress, improve sleep quality and support quality of life, with some effects changing over time. Read the review
Immersion in cold water triggers a measurable rise in noradrenaline, a hormone involved in alertness and focus. Read the study

Recovery isn't the same as adaptation. Cold exposure right after strength training may blunt some of the muscle-building response, so if muscle growth is your goal, schedule cold sessions apart from lifting. Read the study

FAQ

Not to start. Without one, you fill the barrel with cold water and ice and change the water every 3 to 5 days. A chiller holds your chosen temperature, from 37°F to 85°F, and filters and sanitizes the water as it runs.
Dynamic Cold Therapy recommends at least 0.8 HP for this barrel. Choose the 1.0 HP for frequent plunging, faster cooldowns, or a warm room or climate. Both cool and heat, and both run on a standard 120 V outlet.
With either chiller, as low as 37°F (3°C). How quickly it gets there depends on the room temperature and how much water is in the tub.
Usually not. The tub needs no power, and the chiller plugs into a standard 120 V outlet with GFCI built in. You fill it with a hose and drain it through the 1 in drain valve, so plan where the water will go.
Yes, on a level surface. Choose shade or cover, since long sun exposure shortens the life of the tub. The chiller is rated for indoor or covered outdoor use, and the tub shouldn't be stored or used below freezing.
The water alone weighs about 1,210 lb at a full 145 gallons, so plan for well over 1,200 lb before anyone gets in. The manual suggests filling to about 70%. On a deck or upper floor, have a builder or engineer confirm the load.
Both share the same barrel shape, bench and step. PVC can't rust or corrode, so Dynamic Cold Therapy recommends it for homes within 50 miles of the coast. The stainless steel barrel has a polished metal finish, but keeping it polished takes more care, and salt air or chemicals like chlorine and bromine can corrode it.
