- Golden Designs recommends a concrete slab or pad, concrete pavers, gravel, cinder blocks or a solid wood deck, so the sauna can't settle into the ground
- The base must be level, dry and able to carry the sauna plus its bathers, which can exceed 1,000 lb
- Keep it away from standing water, and don't use it during rainstorms
- The cedar weathers and changes color over time, and a little water seepage between boards in the rain is normal. A waterproof cover is recommended when it's not in use.
Installation
How assembly works
The cabin goes together with screws. Golden Designs lists a battery-operated or Phillips screwdriver, a rubber mallet, a claw hammer, a level and two ladders, and calls for three adults. A certified electrician must install the stove. The owner's manual walks through every step with diagrams.
Before delivery
- Prepare a level, solid base: a slab, pavers, gravel, cinder blocks or a deck
- Book a certified electrician for the 240 V, 30 A stove circuit
- Plan a 120 V, 15 A outdoor-rated outlet for the lights and sound
Build the cabin
- Main floor first, then the side and rear walls
- Interior front wall with the glass door, then the porch floor, wall and roof
- Roof panels, then the roofing paper over the exterior roof
Finish & power on
- Benches, supports and backrest inside
- Your electrician installs and connects the stove

Using & care
Simple to use, easy to keep
Your session
- Most people enjoy it at 170–185°F
- Ladle a little water onto the stones with the included bucket and scoop for a burst of steam
- Adjust the vent, or open the door slightly, to fine-tune the heat
Stay comfortable
- Drink water before, during and after
- Sit on a folded towel, with another on the floor
- Wait 30 minutes after hard exercise, and cool down slowly before you shower
Care
- Wipe the wood with plain water and a soft cloth
- Never use chemical cleaners, alcohol or aerosols inside
- Let the stove cool for at least 20 minutes before touching it, and switch off its breaker between uses if you like
Leave the sauna right away if you feel dizzy, sleepy or uncomfortable. If you're pregnant, have a heart or blood pressure condition, take medication or have any medical condition, check with your clinician before use. Avoid alcohol before or during sessions, and supervise children closely. Cedar can cause eye, skin or breathing irritation in some people. Stop using the sauna if you notice symptoms.

Do I need an electrician?
