- Choose a dry, level spot away from any source of water, on a water-tolerant floor such as concrete or tile
- Leave 1–2 in around the cabin, about 10 in at the vents (6 in at minimum) and 10–12 in above the roof
- Plan the stove circuit with your electrician before delivery
- Outdoors, it must sit under a structure with a waterproof roof, and be covered with a waterproof cover when not in use
Installation
How assembly works
The cabin goes together with screws. Golden Designs lists a battery-operated or Phillips screwdriver, a rubber mallet, a claw hammer, a level and a ladder. A certified electrician must install the stove. The owner's manual walks through every step with diagrams.
Before delivery
- Book a certified electrician for the 240 V stove circuit
- Have a 120 V, 15 A outlet near the back of the sauna for the lights and sound
- Clear a path to the room. The sauna arrives in 7 boxes, 785 lb in total.
Build the cabin
- Floor first, then the front wall with the glass door
- Side walls and rear wall, then the roof
- Benches, backrest and trim inside
Finish & power on
- Assemble the wood guard around the stove, with the metal tray beneath
- Your electrician installs and connects the stove
- Plug in the 120 V cord, then run a first heat cycle

Using & care
Simple to use, easy to keep
Your session
- Most people enjoy it at 170–185°F
- Ladle a little water onto the stones with the included bucket and scoop for a burst of steam
- Adjust the vent, or open the door slightly, to fine-tune the heat
Stay comfortable
- Drink water before, during and after
- Sit on a folded towel, with another on the floor
- Wait 30 minutes after hard exercise, and cool down slowly before you shower
Care
- Wipe the wood with plain water and a soft cloth
- Never use chemical cleaners, alcohol or aerosols inside
- Let the stove cool for at least 20 minutes before touching it, and switch off its breaker between uses if you like
Leave the sauna right away if you feel dizzy, sleepy or uncomfortable. If you're pregnant, have a heart or blood pressure condition, take medication or have any medical condition, check with your clinician before use. Avoid alcohol before or during sessions, and supervise children closely. Cedar can cause eye, skin or breathing irritation in some people. Stop using the sauna if you notice symptoms.

Do I need an electrician?
Yes. The stove needs a dedicated 240 V, single-phase circuit, and Golden Designs requires a certified electrician to install it to your local code, using copper wire rated to 90°C. Golden Designs' listing calls for 40 A, and the manual notes 30 or 40 A depending on local code. The lights and sound plug into a separate 120 V, 15 A outlet.
